Review of Adult Bereavement Service
8th February 2023

The bereavement service was an amazing support and the only place I was able to talk truthfully and openly about how I felt. The fact it was connected to the hospice who had looked after my mum also felt special. I really felt my counsellor understood my situation and the implications of losing someone to an illness. I was really grateful for the service.

It is a shame there is nothing for people to use in the period following losing someone. I wonder if there could be an interim service like a call when people are going through those first tough weeks and months. I guess an option to “check in” with people after the 6 sessions have completed could be worthwhile for some people who may need support but don’t like to ask.

Review of Virtual Ward written by a family member

All staff were very caring, answered all questions, and attended whenever we asked.

Suggested improvements
Maybe when I first called to self refer could have been better. As I felt they didn't seem to consider my request urgent. Perhaps a lot of people call to early on.

I am writing this feedback on behalf of my mother who sadly passed away. The care she received before her passing was absolutely fantastic. All carers treated her with respect and dignity went above and beyond not only for the patient but family too.

Firstly I must apologies' for my late reply with this questionnaire. I am very grateful for the help and support I received from Lucy. Lucy came across with understanding of my problems and helped me identify how long and the cause of my many bereavements. I now feel I can address these and focus on going forward with my life.

I am so incredibly grateful to Hannah for her time and compassion. I have really struggled to come to terms with my Mum's death and, while I am not for one minute suggesting that the process is complete, the time I've spent talking to Hannah has been really helpful. I really valued having someone who was equipped to listen to how I was feeling, who wasn't going through the same thing as me. Hannah listened carefully, offered insight and helped me develop tools and techniques for things like Christmas.

Lucy was very supportive throughout all of my counselling sessions, I’ve benefited greatly from her guidance & advice, I’ve noticed a significant shift in my grief since speaking with her. I would highly recommend this service for anyone who is struggling with losing a loved one. Thank you Lucy.
